On the ground, not at a distance
I live in Kaohsiung, Taiwan's industrial south. The fastener cluster is a short drive away, the electronics makers of Hsinchu a train ride, and Korea, Japan and Southeast Asia a few hours by air.
Wan, my partner in life and in business, is Taiwanese. In Taiwan, conversations happen in Mandarin and agreements are reached the way they are reached here, including with companies that have no English-speaking export desk. Outside Taiwan I work through people I know and trust.
